Robert Powell joined Fishbone Solutions in 2011, and is a solicitor with 16 years’ experience in EMEA ( Europe, Middle-East and Africa) in both private practice and industry. His main areas of experience and expertise are commercial, employment law, health and safety law, data protection and other regulatory matters.
Starting his career as a criminal duty solicitor, Robert became a specialist in mental health law before building a successful employment law practice that saw him make partner at his firm by the age of 29.
Moving to an in-house legal team within one of Europe’s largest logistics firms, Robert added valuable commercial experience to his employment law expertise working on health and safety, environmental law, data protection, IT and commercial contract work.
Issues managed by Robert have included High Court applications for injunctions against trade unions to prevent strike action and against senior employees for breach of restrictive covenants. He has also advised on mergers and acquisitions, TUPE transfers, e-mail and internet usage surveillance, data loss following theft of laptops and dealing with various UK and European regulatory authorities.
Robert has also provided representation in interviews under cautions with the police, Health and Safety Executive and other enforcement bodies while leading and advising investigations into serious injuries, fatalities, pollution and disciplinary matters.
As a commercial lawyer, he has drafted a wide range of commercial agreements including for procurement, software development and IT contracts. Robert can also provide in-house training on legal matters.
Now managing director of his own business – Baythorpe Limited – Robert provides Legal Counsel for Fishbone Solutions’ clients, with a flexible, multi-discipline, ‘virtual in-house’ lawyer approach for a wide range of long and short-term projects.
